DOTS Calculator
What is the DOTS formula?
DOTS (Dictionary of Trained Strength) is a bodyweight-adjusted scoring formula used in powerlifting to compare lifters across weight classes. Introduced in 2019 as a modern replacement for the Wilks formula, DOTS uses a 4th-degree polynomial with updated competition data. Scores range from under 200 (beginner) to 500+ (world class), and the formula is used by USAPL and USPA for official best lifter awards.

Quick Facts
Why DOTS? The DOTS formula was developed to address known biases in the Wilks formula, particularly at extreme bodyweights. By using contemporary competition data and a simplified 4th-degree polynomial, DOTS provides fairer comparisons across all weight classes from 48kg to 140kg+.
